Barley

Barley is a versatile and useful crop with applications ranging from feed and food production to beverage manufacturing. Most barley grown in the United States is intended for malting purposes because of the premium it commands. Approximately 75% of the crop grown in the United States is used for food/beverage production. Nevertheless, the United States is a consistent top ten global exporter of barley. In the 2014/2015 crop marketing year (June 1-May 31), U.S. is expected to produce 3.8 MMT of which only 0.21 MMT is expected to be exported to Latin American countries for beer manuacture, but also exports are posisble for Tunisia, Morocco to be used for feeding small ruminants.
